3-Day Horse Camp: Ages 6-15Youth EnrichmentCampers will get to experience everyday life at a barn! Life in the barn will include activities such as daily riding, learning how to braid manes and tails with ribbon, grooming and caring for the horses (including bathing), and feeding them at the end of the day. This is a great time for campers to spend time outdoors and build lasting friendships with fellow horse lovers in a structured and positive environment. Campers are broken into smaller groups of similar riding experience, which is perfect for both the new and more experienced riders. Please note that riding takes about one hour per day in an arena (no trails) and consist of learning to how to steer, stop, turn, and walk/trot on their own. Campers will spend time on the ground with horses throughout the rest of the day. Campers need to bring a lunch, snacks, and plenty to drink. Drop-off is at 9am and pickup is 3pm each day. WHAT DO CAMPERS NEED TO BRING? ● Long pants, closed toe shoes, appropriate clothes for weather inside and outside of barn● No flip flops● Sunscreen/hat/bug spray● Water bottle/drinks/snacks and a lunch● Treats for the horses if you want● Helmets are provided WEATHER: Camps are held rain or shine, as we have an indoor barn and arena. The class is a presentation and there is no test or behind the wheel exam. Completion of this course provides a 10% reduction on automobile insurance premiums for those age 55 and over! Campout Camp: Gr. 4-12Youth EnrichmentDo you enjoy camping? Do you love the outdoors and nature? This is the class for you! Join us for a one-week long campout camp where you will learn the ins and outs of camping and get tips and tricks along the way. Some topics that students will get hands-on experience with are shelters, building fires, cooking over a campfire, canoeing, packing, and traveling. The first day is spent at Princeton High School and the remaining days will be outdoors. The final two days of class will put the skills you learned to the test through a hands-on river paddle and overnight camping trip. Cat Tree Making Workshop: Volunteer Opportunity: Ages 14-Adult (Ages 10-13 w/Adult)Adult EnrichmentCome learn how to make cat trees for Ruff Start Rescue! We average 500-600 animals per month in rescue, half of them being cats. Having scratchers available for our foster cats is great enrichment and helps prevent boredom or furniture destruction! Ages 14-Adult are welcome to attend independently. Ages 10-13 need to be accompanied by an adult. Please register both the adult and child individually. All cat trees will be used for the rescue.
